Thermal production is not split by fuel and is shown as other.

About this market

DK2 is the eastern Danish bidding zone: Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Copenhagen’s demand centre. Where DK1 looks south across the Jutland border, DK2 sits on the Nordic side of Danish power, facing Sweden across the Øresund strait, and it also reaches Germany by an offshore route built from wind-farm cables. The price we show is the day-ahead auction result from Energinet’s Energi Data Service, in kroner per megawatt-hour, for each 15-minute interval.

The two Danish zones frequently clear at different prices. When the Great Belt cable between them is full, they separate, and DK2 usually follows the Swedish and Nordic level instead of the Jutland and German one. That makes comparing DK1 and DK2 a quick way to see where Danish transmission is congested. Generation is not shown here: Danish output is reported only as a national total, on the Denmark page.

What moves the DK2 price: Swedish hydro and nuclear availability, Baltic offshore wind, demand in the Copenhagen region, and gas prices feeding through German coupling. Cold, still evenings in the east tend to be the expensive ones.

Limitations: this is an auction price set the day before delivery, not a measurement of real-time scarcity. Balancing costs are not included, and the numbers are provisional and may be revised.
